Antique Chamois Underwear Undergarment Under Shirt Civil/Spanish War? As-Is

Unfortunately this is quite damaged as you can see in the photos. There is writing on the shirt but it’s hard to make out- the first word appears to say corporal. The previous owner believed this to have been worn by a family member in either the Spanish or Civil war. When laying flat it measures approximately
23” from armpit to armpit and 26” from top to bottom on the longest side of the shirt. There are 2 buttons on the shoulders still intact.
