    Description

    O
conto is a village in Custer County, Nebraska with a population of 151 at the 2010 census.  The community was founded in 1887 as Olax, but the original name conflicted with another Nebraska location, so it was renamed to Oconto. The exact source of the name has been debated, some hold Oconto was the name of a pioneer settler, while others believe the town was named after Oconto, Wisconsin.
    It was incorporated in 1906.

his is a "generic" published by “NYCE Manufacturing Co., a postcard company out of Vernfield, Pennsylvania that offered “25 choice designs” of auto and road scenes. Salesmen traveled the country and offered these designs to local businesses that would buy the cards to sell whether they matched the town or not.  They just had the name of the city or town added to the design.  People did not travel that far at the time and did not know the difference, and it was an era when people actually sat down to write, because communication technology did not exist.

o, this card is as most vintage cards are, a relic from a different era.  It is a peaceful scene and is nicely colored.   It is not postmark, but the linen era was between 1930 and 1945 and the card is in excellent condition with intact corners and edges.  The image is clean, clear, and colorful.  The reverse is clean.
The colors on the images are a more neutral than the scan
Unless otherwise noted, I use Wikipedia for research and try to be as accurate as possible.  Corrections appreciated.
