Description
The Dowst Brothers originally had a laundry business around the turn of the century. They bought a die machine to make buttons and cufflinks, etc. Soon, they started making small cars and trucks, charms, etc.The Shure Brothers bought the company in the 1920's, and continued to call it Dowst Manufacturing. In the mid 1920's, the name "tootsie" was a common name for small toys. It was also the name of Ted Dowst's daughter. So, in 1924, the company trade marked the name, "Tootsietoy".
This is a set of 6 trucks that would pull a trailer. The trailers are not included. You can attach the trailer you'd like.
The first 3 are duplicate Tootsietoys. Each with some paint loss, but the wheels and axles are fine.
The smaller Tootsietoy is in similar
condition, good wheels and axles, with minor paint loss.
The yellow Tootsietoy has minor paint loss, but the housing to hold the rear axle is slightly broken, as shown.
The last one is a friction powered truck made in Japan in the 50's. The friction wheels work perfectly.
For the set of 6 trucks, shipping will be only .00 anywhere in the U.S.
