Original Civil Tooth Brush, UNUSED, bone & bores bristles, NEW OLD STOCK

This is an auction for one ORIGINAL Civil War Era Toothbrush, found in its original store display box and never used.  The box is NOT included.   This toothbrush is guaranteed to be old, original, and never used.
The British invented the toothbrush in 1780.  The first American patent for a toothbrush was granted in 1857, but American mass production did not begin until 1865.  (Look it up and you will see that this is true.)   In the 1800s, French farmers grew more hogs than British farmers, and, since that meant that the French had  more bore's bristles, they made a lot more  toothbrushes during the Civil War era.  But, American farmers grew more hogs than anyone, and, from 1865 onward, Americans made and used their own toothbrushes.    This toothbrush is marked with a French crown and the word France..  See photos. This sort of marking was very typical of French manufactures.  It was all about creating the illusion of "French Chic."   The French also put  their products in fancy boxes, marked with words like "finest quality," and the box which this toothbrush came in is very typical of French marketing during this era.  Some photos show the box and another of the toothbrushes which came in it.  BUT only one toothbrush is included in this auction, and the box is not included.   I am a retired history professor, (Ronald L.
