Description
This is a real photo postcard of Fourth Ave. and Highways 6 & 34 in the small town of Holdrege, Nebraska (southwest of Kearney,NE). The street scene on the card shows many old businesses from the late 40’s or early 50’s (the cars tell us the years). On the left side of the road you can first see the “Brown N Donald” store, then “Hotspot Appliances”, a Diamonds store, “Chase” Real Estate Co., “Hulls Jewelry”, “Virginia’s Cafe” and finally further down a “Coffee Shop”. On the right side of the street you first see “Ledlie’s Millinery”, then “Polly’s Star Brand Shoes”, then “Clothing by Osborne’s”, a “J.C. Penny Company” and further down “Skeith Drugs”.The card is in very good condition (see above). There is no postage to know the exact date of the card. By looking in the stamp box on back which says “Kodak Paper” we do know the card was made sometime from 1950 and on (according to playle.com). By looking at the cars in the photo we can tell the card was probably made in the early 50’s. Thanks for looking and let me know of any questions! I always ship my postcards with cardboard.
