Vintage 1940's Louis Marx STREAM LINE Model 25000 Steam O Scale Train Set, 999

Description

This Vintage 1940's Louis Marx STREAM LINE Model 25000 Steam O Scale Train Set, 999 Locomotive is in Excellent Condition.  It comes in its original cardboard box, which is intact.  The lettering on the box is faded.  However you can still read it by holding it at an angle.  The set in this box includes the 999 Locomotive Engine, 5 cars, 10 pcs. of straight 3 rail track and a Prewar Louis Marx Model 729 Train Transformer.  The transformer hums, but I am told that this is common.  It does not have a reverse feature, only Off, Slow and Fast settings. There is a second box with a lot of additional accessories.  (see below for a full listing and description).  We have not cleaned or restored this set in any manner, as we leave those decisions up to the eventual buyer. There are no previous owner’s ID markings on this set, however there is an original shipping label on the bottom of the box and a number 143 written with a grease pencil below it.  There are 13 patent numbers printed on the side of the box. 12 of numbers are legible ranging in dates from 1935 to 1943.

Marx 999 Locomotive: Very good condition.  It runs perfectly and all the gears, wheels and moving parts are in very good condition.  It does have some paint missing on its front nose.  It has "999" on each side of the back end  and on the nose.
Marx Marlines Reading 92812 Caboose, Passenger Car is in very good condition.  It has "3556" printed on both ends just above the doors.  On the bottom left on both sides it has 2 small lines of letters and numbers that are not completely readable.  the top line has "NM..." and the bottom line reads "BLT 9-41".
Marx NEW York Central Coal Car is in very good condition.  It has some black paint worn off on the corners, top rails and high spots.
Marx/MarLines - NIAX 256-Niacet Chemical Corp Tank Car - NIAGARA FALLS NY.  This tank car is in very good condition.  All of the printing is intact and very legible.  There are some black spots on the car that we have not tried to clean, as we leave those decisions up to the eventual buyer.
Marx MarLines PENNSYLVANIA 347000 Gondola Freight Car.  This car is in excellent condition.  I has "P.R.R. 347000" and "3552" below that printed on both ends and "PENNSYLVANIA 347000" printed on both sides.  All of the other small printing and decals are in very good condition and the black paint is 99.99% intact.
Marx MarLines New York New Haven and Hartford 3200, 3555 Box Car.  This car is in good condition with a few very minor scratches.  One of the sliding doors works perfectly, but the other one is stuck in the open position.  Printed on the bottom on both sides are "NEW 1-41" and "BLT 1-41"

AUTO CAR CARRIER that are salvageable.)
